Not all locks are made the same. While a lock might look similar from the outside, what’s in the inside of the lock can make a big difference to the level of security. Firstly, does the lock have any stars on it? A lock without any stars will only offer a basic level of security. The more stars the higher the level of security. Most good locks come in either 1 Star or 3 stars. Also look for the British Standard Kite Mark on locks, as this is a sign quality and that the locks have been tested.

Having a lock that is from a well-known brand is always worth considering. Some of the most popular lock brands available are Yale, Ultion and APECS. 

How many stars do your locks have on them?

If your lock only has 1 star it is likely that the cylinder is not very secure. If you are looking to upgrade your home security then having a lock with 3 stars will provide much better peace of mind when you are out and about during the day.
